Just update the current thread instead of starting a new one, and admins reading this can they please merge this with #296. Ok, now, back to the problem at hand, can you please upload your RoR.log here and possibly try reinstalling the game.

It seems to be because of your graphics card, a simple google search says that the Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset you have is outdated and not designed for high intensity graphics like RoR. I'd say that upgrading it may be the solution you need.

but why would this start just from updating ror because everything was fine in .36.x

#6 Updated by bkcokota almost 2 years ago

0.37 is more intensive, because it is still in beta there is a lot of optimisation still to be done and there are new features which use more of the computers power. basically, as you go through the past versions of RoR, each version uses more power than the previous one and as such your computer gets out of date as time passes.

i find if i don't set the material names correctly this can happen,
a name like
material Material #75/SOLID/TEX/CMB.PNG

will show no texture in game.
to fix you need to open the materialfile and convert the *.mesh backto *.mesh.xml
and edit the texture names

in the material file it should be
material cmb

and the xml

<submesh material="cmb" usesharedvertices="false">

once you have made these changes convert mesh.xml back to mesh and replace in the zip and test in game.
its not a error with ror its a exporter bug where it imprints material 2 times in the material and xml file,
contact the exporter designer.
these are the only times ive seen this bug hence why i re-released my 4x4 trailer because it was showing up white and the names where wrong.

to convert the mesh to mesh.xml you need XMLConverter.exe

I've seen this happen before to me but evntually corrected it's self. Can you find out which vehicles do it, and which ones do not. that would be most helpful.

I faced this problem also. It happens on all vehicles which use shaders.
The intel graphic cards (at least the old ones) have no support for hardware vertex shaders, they emulate them on the cpu. Ogre 1.6 and before seems to ignore that and try to use them - that's why there where so many Error 3 problems. The "new Ogre" (i think above Ogre 1.7) detects the missing support and display all shader materials white.
The only solution is that content creators make use of fallback materials without shaders.
